Smeared and Smudged April Member Blog Hop

I was a little nervous to use a stamped image on an egg. I wanted to do something more cutesy for Easter. So I picked an UM Repeat Impressions stamp entitled Just Hatched I bought a few years ago from StampScrapArttour convention.( Unfortunately I will miss the one they are having near me in May. I am having surgery to repair my separated stomach muscles. I will be in bed for one week afterwards and two more weeks extremely light activity.)
I stamped the image on white card stock then colored it with Copic markers. I cut it out so it would look like it is cracking out of the egg. I colored the egg with Copic markers too in two shades of purple. After adhering the stamped image to the hard boiled egg I drew some black on it with a Sharpie marker. I think it looks so cute.
I am hoping to dye eggs this Sunday afternoon with my girls. We love coloring them, using dye, stickers, markers and crayons. So much fun! Egg salad sandwiches and hard boiled eggs eaten for days, even the dogs get some.
I hope you enjoy the Smeared & Smudged blog hop. I appreciate you taking the time to check out my egg and leaving a comment. I hope everyone has a sweet Easter with baskets full of joy!

Smeared & Smudged's March Blog Hop "Void"

I was eager to join Smeared & Smudged's March Blog hop despite the topic of "void". You must use a stamped image in their blog hops. I love their stamps. I belong to their Smeared Ink monthly stamp club. So, I chose to use one of the stamps from them..hence the skull stamp I used is From Smeared Ink. When I think of the topic of void I always think of thought and feelings. Some people are just void of one or the other unless it directly pertains to them. Some people think they know it all and they are the ones I think are completely void of thought. My void stamped project was a page in my new art journal. I incorporated a quote from poet, Ezra Pound. He can be a little pessimistic but he keeps it real. I used Tattered angels glimmer mists and spider web mask. Notice they are "void" of any little spiders or spiders' tasty morsels(other bugs). I painted the skull stamped image with Shimmerz then outlined it with color from Copic markers. I outlined the page and skull with a yellow Martha Stewart marker. I used Tattered Angels black Glam in the eye sockets, nose holes and mouth.
Go to http://moresmearedink.blogspot.com/ to follow the blog hop. I would have posted the actual blog roll but for some reason my mac (and ipad) would not allow me. Please leave a comment. I like to read them.

Day 7 of kickstart your art challenge from Smeared and Smudged

Day 7 challenge was to use the easy water blotting background. Go to: http://moresmearedink.blogspot.com/
I wanted to try using different types of ink on this page to add some depth. I used some old walnut ink daubers I had for years now from Fiber Scraps( they r no longer in business.). I used some TH distress inks and smeared a little TA Glam on top.
With water I impressed circles randomly on the page using a circle stamp I had by Judith.it worked perfectly. I even impressed lips on the bottom left corner in water using a stamp ( a little hard to see in pic). I stamped a mosquito and star on the page with memento blk ink (stamps by Judith).

This page reminds me of my Uncle JF who died tragically when I was a young teenager. He was a very highly intellectual eccentric yet gentle man. Beautiful inside and out. Died when he was only 26 years old. Anyway, this reminds me of him bc in his bedroom he had random writings and drawings on his walls. Some I still remember even now. I wish I had a camera at the time before the house was sold to take photos of his work on the walls.

Day 6 kick start your art Challenge with Smeared and Smudge

I went to a high school cheer leading event today and set up a candle bar (I sell candles and sprinkles.). The cheerleaders were so cute and very helpful. They helped me pack and unpack. They were so creative with mixing my sprinkles to make their candles.  Anyway so I wasn't sure I would have time to do the challenge today. When I saw what the challenge was I was discouraged. I don't like texture on my pages. I like everything flat or near flat. I thought if I am going to be challenged do something I am not fond of too. Trying to go outside the box. Though I did take a couple class this past summer using various mediums but wasn't impressed with how they look. I am not a fan of the "drippy" stuff.
Go to http://moresmearedink.blogspot.com/ to check out the challenge.
So I stamped a few Smeared Ink images on paper then applied them to my page. I painted Faber Castells gel medium over them then applied Martha Stewarts black glitter to make it look a little glitzy and rough. The words I obviously hand wrote with a bold creative memories pen on regular loose leaf paper to keep with the traditional journal vibe. I applied CTMH's liquid glass to the heart image I stamped on the loose leaf paper. I roughly bordered the loose leaf paper tearings with Viva walnut brown metallic 3d stamp paint.

I used the focus on being an empath bc an interesting thing happened today at the cheerleading event.   These types of things happen often but usually the "other side" isn't so determined to make u state to the innocent person that they are present. So when u feel the "pushing" from the other side it kinda leaves an impact on you.
Thanks for visiting my page and leaving a comment.

Day 5 Smeared and Smudged art Journal DT challenge- stash

Today is day 5 of the Smeared and Smudged Art Journal DT challenge using stash. Check it out at: http://moresmearedink.blogspot.com/
So I found some tags and such that I have been holding onto of things that I enjoy. I also put a pic of my Halloween stash that I sprinkle on my table in my dining room sun room every year. I love little plastic and rubber rats, snakes, etc. Weird, I suppose but I do. I smeared two different colors of Tattered Angels Glam on the pages first.
The skeleton is actually a stamped image I have been holding onto. Why? I have no clue. My Halloween party invitations last year had skeletons hanging from a noose..this one I ripped the head off by accident and didn't throw away. (That is the moon child in me. Save it for a rainy day.)
Rachel Roy and Betsey Johnson are two of my favorite designers. I love Ralph Lauren too but could not find a tag. Of course I need my desire for my mocha lattes somewhere in there along with my occasional Corona and Coke. Hello Kitty is still a favorite of mine as well. I sweat anything 80s.
I am really enjoying this art journal and thankful for Smeared & Smudge for challenging me. Tomorrow I am so busy but hoping to get another page in for day6 challenge.
Thanks for stopping by. Remember to be good to yourself. You deserve it.

Day 4 Smeared and Smudged art journal challenge- growth

Day 4 of smeared and smudge challenge was to use the focus on growth. So here is my rendition for my art journal. I used tattered angels glimmer screen of tree and glimmer mists. I have old oak trees and other trees in my yard. Some trees over two hundred years old. They symbolize growth and life to me.
I punched some flowers from scraps and stickled the centers. I love glitter! I added some wood cat pieces by studio calico then painted them black with glitter glam. I stamped some acorns using a Stampendous stamp.
You can check out the challenge at http://moresmearedink.blogspot.com/
I think as we get older we learn not to be afraid of who we are. To share ourselves with others creates beauty in life. Beauty does blossom from within.

Smeared & Smudged Art journal Everyday DT Challenge day 3

So today was the third day of the Smeared and Smudged art journal DT challenge. The challenge is to use easy found objects background technique. Well, I think I did it. For my background I used cotton swabs all over the page to apply Tattered Angels glam in dots. I also stitched the word "sassy" with floss and a needle on the top of my page. I used A Smeared Ink stamped image. Love it! She is so va va va voom! I used some Copic markers to color her. I put a little poem next to her about my day and my feelings.
Go to http://moresmearedink.blogspot.com/ to check out the challenge.

Today I went to the hair salon and got pink put back in my hair. I haven't had such pretty color since gaining weight after being a mommy. Now that I have lost the weight(finally), I decided to color it up again. I lost 80lbs in less than 9 months and am darn proud! I love my body again.
The biggest two perks are how I feel and to wear fashionable clothes again. Who says you can't be fabulous after 40?

Day Two Smeared & Smudged Art Journal Everyday DT Challenge

Today the Smeared and Smudged Art Journal Everyday DT Challenge was to incorporate hearts. So I knew instantly I wanted to use one of my favorite stamps, the voodoo doll stamp by Smeared Ink. I have recently used this stamp on a few valentine cards I made too. I also used a stamp of dots by Artful Legacy. I painted the voodoo doll with Tattered Angels Glam. I used Smooch on the heart. I like a primitive look to my journal..obviously. I pulled out some of my old Creative pens and markers  to use on this page too. I love using stash.
I wrote the little poem about the voodoo doll in hopes my hubby will think more about expressing his love in perhaps a more romantic way. (A lady can dream, right?) He needs to think about what his lady needs to feel special sometimes. ( Though I probably have no right to complain, I have more than most.)
On the right side of the page I wrote what love is to me between two lovers.
I appreciate the comments and look forward to more. Art journaling is new to me but I like this    challenge because it brings me out of my comfort zone of cards and scrapbooks. Makes me express   myself in a more raw form.

Smeared and Smudged art journal Everyday Challenge entry

I have never done an art challenge so the Smeared and Smudged challenge inspired me. Today I was chatting with a friend about all kinds of things including the afterlife, past lives and psychics. So I thought why not do something in the journal about it. The stamped I used was from Smeared Ink. I belong to their monthly stamp club. I love it! I tried to stay with their rules of using primary colors today. To check out the challenge go to:
http://moresmearedink.blogspot.com/
Please leave me a comment to inspire me to move on with this challenge this week. I am not into journaling bc I write so poorly. My handwriting is deplorable. I excelled in school always but my handwriting killed me. My mind just works too fast for my hands to catch up.
Have a great day/night! Thanks for stopping by!

Bon Jovi - It's My Life

I cried today because I exceeded my goals faster than expected. I cried tears of joy (at my Dr appt.). All my hard work and sacrifice are paying off. All my inner and outward struggles are having the impact I wanted on my body. I had a plan in my head and I stuck to it despite the opposition and lack of support from others. I had the courage to move ahead with my plan because I educated myself, prepared myself both physically and mentally ( detoxified my life of negativity as best I could- abusive job, ppl, etc). My goal was possible because of my immediate family's support- my daughters and my husband. They have been supportive, loving and gave me confidence when I really needed it. They gave me space when I needed it (quite often bc I am an introvert/chronic thinker/dreamer) too. They gave me compliments when I thought no one was noticing (goes ALONG WAY WITH ME). I think I would have reached this goal without them despite their support but it is sweeter because I get to enjoy it with them.
I was told I am glowing..I finally look on the outside like I always felt on the inside, but better. My body was unidentifiable for so long. I was mad at myself and disliked how I changed physically. Now, I love not just my inner self but my outer self again. No, I am not perfect. Imperfections make you, you.  (I have scars like most mothers with complications from bearing children; but, my scars tell my story of where I have been in my life. Shows the warrior I am when I need to fight.) Comfortable and truly happy with your self makes you beautiful.
